Working in ‘Rockstar’ changed me as a person: Ranbir
The actor who was always in news for all the wrong reasons and frequent link-ups has maintained a low profile since few months now.
There has been no new link ups or talks of him in the past few months. In a recent interview with a daily, he explained his exile.
RK Junior feels he got ripped and over publicized for all the reasons, he revealed what hit him under the belt, “Well there were link ups and the Koffee with Karan episode. There was lot of things which probably happened in that six months span. I guess I was naive before, now am not.
I understand what the bigger picture is and what`s really important. All the rest are just the frills which get attached to you as an actor, but it`s all in the passing. At the end it`s your movie and your performance that stands out. So if I am a good actor, and if am being part of good entertaining engaging films, audiences will like me.
What I was afraid was that people will probably form a judgment about what they read about me, and they will stop liking me as a person. I think that`s really unfair. I am not saying that everything is untrue but what is written is exaggerated and glamorized. That is not exactly how our lives are, our lives are quite ordinary. I hadn`t gone away into a shell I was just working.”
He went to a shell of his own and soon we saw there wasn’t much news about him, he says he took to his work more seriously and began to cut back from being negatively publicized.
Also while working on ‘Rockstar’ with Imtiaz Ali he discovered things about an actors life which he feels helped him mature as a person even more.
“After I began shooting for Rockstar, I have become very detached person. It is because of the certain emotions attached to this character, working with Imitiaz... He`s so inspiring and motivating as a director that you kind of want to submit to him. You want to bare yourself. Also I feel post the movie for four months I kind of went into somewhat of a depression.
Not because what was happening in my life, but because of the character I played. You know before when I used to hear things like Heath Ledger killing himself because of his character, I used to think, `I am an actor and it doesn`t go to that extent.` I am not saying my work is on that extent or on that superior quality level, but I understand now how important these experiences are as an actor.

I never dated Ranbir ..Katrina kaif
In a revealing interview with Zoom TV, Katrina talked about everything under the sun -- from her relationship with the top three Khans in the industry, her link-up with Ranbir Kapoor and even growing up without a father.
We present an excerpt of the interview:
What was it like growing up in a house with six sisters? Do they look up to you?
Oh no, they don't. There is a certain amount of responsibility that I am now aware I have. I have a family which is dependant on me. They are all strong and incredibly intelligent and when we all do get together, it is really nice. Those are the times that I miss.
It's also nice to see that there is a whole other world out there and they are surviving and doing great and it's not just the film industry world that exists.
One of your sisters Isabella is trying to get into the movies. Has she signed something?
No, she's actually not here. There were a few misreports that she was looking and trying to get into the industry, which is not correct. She is currently in New York. She has been studying for the last two years. She has done her acting training but she's not here yet. She is yet to decide.
I'm hoping she does and if here's where she wants to work, then obviously now I think I have some very good friends and obviously, it would be easier for her.

Ash makes Ranbir blush

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently made Ranbir Kapoor blush at a social gathering when she told her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, how Ranbir used to admire her some years back.
It's said that Ranbir used to sketch Ash when he was assisting his dad in one of the films before becoming an actor. When he was caught by his dad, Ranbir was obviously embarrassed.
When Ranbir met the Bachchans during the premiere of PAA recently, Aishwarya shared this secret with her hubby who could not stop laughing about this incident. Poor Ranbir was extremely shy about facing this reality of the past and kept blushing throughout the evening.
Well, let's tell Ranbir that some memories are meant to be cherished forever. And this naughty memory is no exception.

Ranbir-Priyanka shoot their first smooch scene

It will be his and her fourth (separately) but their first... kiss together. We're talking about Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra locking lips for Sajid Nadiadwala's Anjaana Anjaani. The kiss was shot during their recent Bangkok schedule. Directed by Siddharth Anand, it's the first pairing of the two actors.
Reveals a source, "There was an internal joke with the unit that Siddharth would definitely have a kiss written into the script as he made Ranbir kiss three gals in their film film together -- Bachna Ae Haseeno, so it was kind of a given."
Amazing chemistry
The source adds, "Despite not knowing each other, Ranbir and PC's on-screen chemistry is amazing. They'd met and interacted at partied before but never sat down and really talked. So it was almost like their first meeting on the set. They are both very professional and did lot of readings for their romantic scenes. Also they hung out and spent some time getting to know each other before the shoot began."
Even though they have shot one kissing scene for now, one more might pop up during their New York schedule later this month as well. "The script demands they get flirty and there's a scene that will shot at Times Square at New Year's Eve which has them getting cosy."

Ranbir all set to join the Bollywood brawn brigade!

With hits like ‘Wake Up Sid’, ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ and ‘Rocket Singh’, Ranbir Kapoor has arrived with a bang as the stylish actor gets catapulted into the group of B-town superstars! Done with playing the boy-next-door roles, this mushy actor has finally set his eyes on ‘coming of age’ roles and will be leaving his skinny image for a muscular one. It is believed that the actor is contemplating developing a sinewy physique for upcoming projects.
Ranbir wants to go for mature roles and therefore wants to flaunt a well sculpted hot body, much like his colleagues. Gossip has that Siddharth Anand’s ‘Anjana Anjani’ and Imtiaz Ali’s next flick requires a strong image.Talking to a news daily, a source said, “Both the characters require Ranbir to play a man and not a boy. In all his films so far he has played a boy just stepping into maturity and opposite the hardships of life. In ‘Anjana Anjani’ he plays a man on the move and must match his objective appearance with Priyanka Chopra who’s chronologically older than Ranbir and therefore routinely perceived to be older than him by the audience.”
As for Imtiaz Ali’s flick, for the first time Ranbir will portray the character of an intense lover.Of late, the actor is busy pumping iron to build a fantabulous body as Ranbir himself confirms, “Yes I am beefing up my figure for next year. Change is good, don’t you think?”

Ranbir-Deepika’s split a blessing for Rocket Singh

They say no publicity is bad publicity. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone must be having hard time with the jounos keep asking them about their alleged break-up, but it has turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Ranbir’s latest offering Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year, where he acts with newcomer Shazahn Padamsee.
The makers of Rocket Singh didn’t promote the film aggressively and director Shimit Amin defended that it was to arouse curiosity amongst the public. But the truth is, a good opening requires good publicity however big a film is. Luckily, the break-up rumours of its lead actor with his girlfriend Deepika came handy.
Don’t know how true the splitting story is but it has surely pushed Ranbir into the minds of the people. Who knows if he deliberately refused to clarify the rumours, knowing that it would bring good fortune to his film.

Ranbir-Priyanka hike fees?

Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are riding high at the box office these days but they offered to keep their fees at the most reasonable for Anjana Anjani, making Sajid Nadiadwala a happy producer.”Ranbir and Priyanka were already part of our extended family. When Ranbir’s father Chintu-ji (Rishi Kapoor) was working in my dad’s production Hathyar, I was an assistant. That’s when I got to know Chintu-ji and his family,” said Nadiadwala.
“Priyanka has been family from the time she did Mujhse Shaadi Karogi for my banner. So yes, they’ve certainly not hiked their price just because they are super-saleable today. In fact, they didn’t even discuss money with me.”This is Ranbir and Priyanka’s first film together and Nadiadwala says their chemistry was evident in Bangkok. “Both Ranbir and Priyanka have changed their looks for this film.
They hardly knew one another before the shooting. So they’re getting to know each other as their on-screen romance progresses.”Ranbir is entertaining on screen. But he carries that sense of fun from the screen to the sets. Priyanka was in her own shell to begin with. But her resolve didn’t take long to dissolve,” he said.

Ranbir's price reaches Rs. 12 Crore

He is the most sought after star in Bollywood and if remunerations are anything to go by Ranbir Kapoor might soon outdo the Khans. Producers are willing to pay anything to get him on-board considering the mass appeal he has among the young crowd. There is buzz in the tinsel town that director Imtiaz Ali has signed Ranbir for a whopping amount Rs. 12 Crores. The movie will be produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision and will hit the floors early next year.
Ranbir is already in the top five pay bracket in the industry and his price stands only next to Akshay. Considering Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan take a share of the profit they don't have such high signing amounts while Salman Khan's box office success has dented his remunerations. Ranbir is outdoing himself with every new film, starting with Rs 50 lakhs for Saawariya he pocketed Rs 5 crores for Bachna Ae Haseeno. He was paid Rs 8 Crores each for Wake Up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
Well all we can say is that the 'Kapoor Khandan ka Chirag' has come off age just two years since making his debut in Saawariya. Along with Kareena Kapoor, Ranbir is ensuring that the first family of Bollywood still stays at the pinnacle.

Ranbir plays an abnormal character in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani,
The lead pair of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor, insist that director Raj Kumar Santoshi has derived never-seen-before performances from them.
The trio were present at a media meet in Wave Cinema (Noida) and surely made an ajab as well as ghazab team. Ajab in the sense that Santoshi was not aware that Ranbir and Katrina have worked in comedies before. Says Santoshi, "They are working in a comedy for the first time." Kat of course came to his rescue and corrected him, "He means we haven't done a comedy like Ajab Prem.. before. He's made the film so different that it is very unlike my characters in Welcome and Singh is Kinng".
Ranbir too was all praise for Santoshi. "Whatever I have done during the shooting of the film is going to help me for the rest of my career," he gushed.
Point taken! And what's the ghazab factor? Well, quiz Ranbir and Kat about the USP of the film, and both of them say in unison, "Rajji's direction". Too much of sugar, we must say.
But the lead actors swear by the fact that it's an innovative comedy. Innovative in the sense that Ranbir is playing an abnormal character? In the words of Santoshi, "The character of Ranbir is called Prem and he's not a normal guy. I would say he's an abnormal person. If I say more the story would be revealed."
Raj Kumar Santoshi is apparently very happy with his lead cast and would like to cast them for the remake of Andaaz Apna Apna. "There will be two guys and a girl. Ranbir can play the role of one guy and Katrina can play the lead role. And if I don't get the other guy, I'll play the role myself," says the director jokingly. 'Ajab' sense of humour, we must say!
So what to expect from the movie? "It's a romantic comedy. And love is an ajab emotion. Ab main Katrina ko phone deta hoon," says Santoshi. Katrina smiles and discovers that it's actually the mike he's referring to. Another ajab quote!

Ranbir replaces Shah Rukh as YRF's favourite actor

Yash Raj Films seems to have found their next superstar after Shahrukh Khan in Ranbir Kapoor. The Kapoor scion who has starred in Bachna Ae Haseeno and the forthcoming Rocket Singh Salesman of the Year will be now seen in a movie directed by the exclusive Aditya Chopra. What's making news is Aditya took this decision after his favourite actor Shahrukh Khan was unable to give him dates for the next two years.
Aditya who had directed Shahrukh in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was keen on working with him for the movie Dhoom 3. Shahrukh who is busy with Farhan Akhtar for his Don 2 and Farah Khan directed Happy New Year could not give Aditya any dates till 2011 end. A disappointed Aditya dropped the idea of Dhoom 3 and wrote a romantic story keeping in mind Bollywood's latest heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranbir repeats the Towel act

It seems it will take quite some time for our Ranbir Kapoor to get rid of that ‘Towel boy’ tag which he earned post Saawariya. Never was a scene by an actor picturised in such a sensuous way that many raised their eyebrows (males) while some skipped a heart beat (females), seeing the young Kapoor in just a towel.
Now, after Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it’s director Rajkumar Santoshi who can’t escape from the desire of showing hunky Ranbir in a towel. Wallah! The boy has again donned a towel for his upcoming Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
The recent promos from the film that are on-air have already set many girls swooning over Ranbir, as he is back with just a towel to cover his modesty. If in ‘Saawariya’ he was a love struck boy singing for his beloved, played by Sonam Kapoor, in this scene from ‘Ajab Prem…’ he is in a different mood to show-off a towel. He is a playful, full of life, carefree young lad enjoying his own time minus Katrina Kaif.
