No, he is not doing a double role of brothers separated at birth and growing up in Hindu and Muslim families. Rather one Akshay Kumar would be seen playing Hindu and Muslim character in the same film.

The film in question is Oh My God being produced by Akshay Kumar himself along with Ashvini Yardi. And much against the speculations that Akshay won't be a part of his home-production, he will be seen portraying multiple characters. An industry insider reveals, "Akshay Kumar will be seen in multiple avatars from a Hindu character to a Muslim one. Different looks are being designed keeping his character in mind. From pathani to dhoti-clad look, he will be seen sporting all". However it's still not revealed whether he would be playing God in the film.

The film is a cinematic adaptation of the popular Gujarati play Kanji Virrudh Kanji. Paresh Rawal plays the role of an atheist who challenges God after he loses everything in an earthquake. Umesh Shukla who directed the play will be directing the film as well.

When Akshay saved a woman’s life in real

Now you will know why this hunk of an actor is called `Khiladi`. Bollywood’s very own Akshay Kumar, who is known for performing dangerous stunts in films, turned out to be a lifesaver to a lady.

Though the actor tried hard to keep the incident under wraps, eye witnesses couldn’t stop applauding the man for his noble deed.

Nina Elavia Jaipuria, the lady, who got saved by the actor, could have got electrocuted had Akki not been there.

Narrating what happened on the fateful day, an eyewitness said to DNA, “Though it happened in a split second, we know what got averted. We had lit up the stage and suddenly we were told that one of the electrical circuits was malfunctioning. Unfortunately, by that time both Akshay and Nina had gone on stage and had started talking. Mending the circuit would mean that the programme had to be halted mid-way.”

It was Akki who had intimated to the staff about sparks off the circuit. However, short-circuit couldn’t be averted. It was Akki’s presence of mind and instant reflex action that helped him save a life.

“We grabbed the video and realised that Akshay grabbed her just in the nick of time as she was tripping and falling down. He later made it seem as if he is hugging her on stage after he had prevented the fall. The circuit was mended soon, but it was a major accident that was averted that day,” the source added.

Well done Akki! You are indeed a true Khiladi.

On the night of the Colors Golden Petal Awards, Akshay Kumar not only graced the
event with his presence but also brought not one but two furry friends.

Parceled and cozy in their box, Akshay was seen playing with two little hamsters on stage while the audience ooh-ed and aah-ed over them. To share their antics he decided to walk into the audience with them and stopped right in front of none other than Neelam, who was there to cheer on her hubby, Sameer Soni. To Neelam’s mortification, Akki put the hamsters in her purse – a move that completely freaked her out.

Laughing at her plight and being the ever-chivalrous gentleman, Akshay decided to rescue the damsel in distress and put the hamsters back in the box. Looking at Neelam’s dilemma, Sambhavna Seth stepped in and asked Akshay Kumar to include her in this ongoing action because she didn’t get a chance to showcase her daredevil-ness during Khatron Ke Khiladi 4. Two years after he launched his first production house, the actor teams up with former programming head to float his new venture, Grazing Goat Productions

Akshay Kumar has joined hands with Ashvini Yardi, outgoing channel head of a Hindi GEC, to launch Grazing Goat Pictures Pvt Ltd.

The company will focus on producing Hindi films to start with, while plans of dabbling with regional films are also on the agenda.

Mumbai Mirror on November 13, 2011, had reported about Ashvini's resignation. Akshay, who already has a flourishing production house Hari Om Productions, has now teamed up with Ashvini and bought an office space in Juhu, which is fast being readied. Akshay's wife Twinkle is in charge of the decor.

Confirming the story, Ashvini shed more light on her joint venture with Akshay. She said, "After having worked in the television industry for almost 20 years, I was looking for an exciting project in the film medium."

Explaining how she professionally combined with Akshay, Ashvini told Mumbai Mirror, "Sometime during the shoot of Khatron Ke Khiladi early this year, Akshay and I came up with the idea of a production house where the focus is only on making quality creative film - both full length and short . We then got down to charting out the exact details of the plan. Thankfully, the modalities were worked out fast."

A source close to the developments told Mirror, "Ashvini, Akshay and Twinkle are on the same page. Ashvini moves out from the channel by end of this month. She does not want to waste too much of time before getting into thick of things soon. As things stand today, the office will be ready to be occupied by December 31, 2011."

Grazing Goat will soon be announcing their first project, toplining Akshay. The source clarified, "The film on Bigg Boss, which Akshay will produce, will not be the first film from the Akshay-Ashvini stable. Grazing Goat has three scripts on hand. Let's see which one gets the nod. Right now, they are also looking for talented writers and directors across India." Everyone needs a greener pasture, to graze… er… raise the bar.

Akshay planning to make a film on `Bigg Boss`?

Bigg Boss` fever has certainly gripped the nation but the one who has gotten super stirred by the controversial show is none other but Bollywood hunk Akshay Kumar.

Akki had recently made an appearance on the show to promote his upcoming flick `Desi Boyz` with John Abraham. His brief presence in the house might have inspired him to make a film on the reality show.

Reportedly, AK is contemplating to make the film under his banner `Hari Om Productions` and if the sources are to be believed, the film have 12 other important characters apart from his.

Talking to a tabloid, a source said, “Like the reality show `Bigg Boss`, Akshay’s film will have 13-14 inmates locked up in a house. The other actors have not yet been finalized.”

Buzz has it that the actor is expected to announce his project any time soon and is currently in talks with a reputed filmmaker to take charge of direction.

“Akshay loves `Bigg Boss`. He has been thinking about making a film on similar lines. He has already got a writer on board, who has been working on the script for a while now,” the source added.

The film will revolve round a crime that is committed inside the house.

“The film will be a thriller. A crime will be committed in the house that will get recorded on camera. Every contestant will be the suspect,” revealed the source.

It will be interesting to see who all Akshay will cast.

Akshay Kumar turns Chitrangada's bodyguard!

Not all the stars love being mobbed by crowd or are comfortable to be surrounded by people. There are actors like Chitrangada Singh, who can't stand crowd or get cold feet when faced. Something similar happened while promoting the upcoming film DESI BOYZ when Chitrangada was dazed to come across a huge mass. However, all thanks to Akshay, Chitrangada's co-star, who came to her rescue and handled the situation with ease.

Akshay recalls the incident, "I remember we were on a promotion tour for DESI BOYZ and while promoting it in one of the cities we were mobbed by the crowd. I think Chitrangada, who comes from parallel cinema background, has never witnessed such huge crowd and power of commercial cinema is altogether different. Chitrangada was taken aback watching a crowd of 350 people around her. She was frozen and couldn't step ahead. When I looked back for her I found she's left behind. I immediately rush to her, hold her hand and brought her forward. While Deepika, who was also with us, walked with much confidence because she's used to it."

Akshay is highly mesmerized by his leading lady Chitrangada's beauty, who resembles late Smita Patil.

"Chitrangada is a very beautiful actress. She looks very desi with that dusky complexion and reminds me of late Smita Patil. She is a wonderful actor which she has proven also by winning awards. She's done lot of parallel cinema but DESI BOYZ is her first commercial film," ends up Akshay.

John Abraham, Akshay Kumar turn pole dancers

Akshay Kumar and John Abraham are set for a tryst with pole dancing. The duo will be seen in a pole dancing sequence in Rohit Dhawan’s upcoming film, Desi Boyz. And being complete professionals, Akshay and John went all out to get hands-on training for the sequence.
So much so that
professionalism they showed delighted director Rohit Dhawan. “It’s not a long sequence. In fact, they pole dance only for 30 seconds in a song. But Akshay and John are so professional that they trained for it before shooting,” confirms Rohit. “Before the sequence, they visited a few clubs in London — where we were shooting — and jumped on stages to practice with real poles. I think they did the right thing because it’s (pole dancing) not an easy job.”

At the same time, Rohit wants to clarify that his film isn’t about pole dancing, as the general buzz suggests. “Many people feel that the film is about pole dancing or that they are playing pole dancers in the film. But let me clarify that it is not the case. But at the same time, though the pole-dancing bit is a short one, it has big ramifications and really affects their lives. So, it’s an important part of the story,” says Rohit.

Although both John and Akshay went all out for the sequence, Rohit feels it was relatively easier for Akshay. “He is well-versed with Parkour. And since that too involves lot of twist and turns, I think he picked up the tricks easily. But I can say that both the actors have literally put in their best foot forward,” says the director.
And besides Akshay and John, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangda Singh also star in the film that releases on November 25. The film has been mostly shot in London with very few sequences being canned in studios in Mumbai.

Hema ignores Akshay for SRK!

Veteran actress Hema Malini, who is leaving no stone unturned to resurrect her daughter Esha Deol’s acting career, irked Akshay Kumar and his mom-in-law Dimple Kapadia during an event held recently.

Hema was celebrating the music launch of her second directorial venture `Tell Me Oh Khuda` that stars her husband Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Esha Deol and Salman Khan in a guest appearance. Akki and Dimple were also a part of the star-studded evening. The `dream girl` was certainly on cloud nine and the moment she saw Shah Rukh Khan arriving, her happiness crossed all boundaries.

She received SRK as if he was the chief guest and while doing so, she snubbed Akki and Dimple, who were one of the first guests to arrive. Khiladi Kumar and Dimple could do little but make way for SRK as Hema completely forgot to attend to them after Khan’s entry.

When quizzed by reporters on her preferential treatment to King Khan, Hema said, "Actually Shahrukh came a bit late for the event as he was coming from a game show and Akshay had to leave early because he had some other engagement. But I don`t think anybody got upset. My programme was going on and I couldn`t have called others on the stage in between. I could have called only my cast and crew."

Akshay’s desi speech at Oxford University

Bollywood’s favourite khiladi Akshay Kumar was caught off-hand while shooting for ‘Desi Boyz’ at the prestigious Oxford University, London. The actor delivered an inspiring speech to students when he was spotted by few Indian girls who were completely dumbfounded by his presence in the campus.

Debutant director of ‘Desi Boys’, Rohit Dhawan, who is David Dhawan’s son confirmed, “Yes, it happened when we were shooting a song on the Oxford campus.” Apparently, the students on noticing Akki requested if the actor could deliver a speech to a group of South East Asian students.

“I checked with Akshay and he was cool with it,” Rohit said, adding that the students weren’t just Indians, but Pakistanis and Bangladeshis too.

“In his speech, Akshay insisted that they should be proud of being ‘desi’. He further added that the students shouldn’t feel that being an Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi is ‘uncool’ in a foreign country. He very intelligently merged the theme of his speech with that of the film,” said Rohit.

Akshay delivered his speech in Hinglish. “It was nice and, at the same time, very inspiring. And for ‘desi’ students, it was a big thing because Akshay is a major star and everyone just couldn’t believe that he was speaking amidst them,” Rohit added.

‘Desi Boyz’ sees Akshay playing a student of Trinity College, Oxford. The film also features John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh.

During the shooting of a particular dance sequence for Akshay Kumar's Desi Boyz, Akki's co-star in the film Chitrangada apparently couldn't get her steps right no matter how much choreographer duo Bosco-Ceasar tried to teach her.

That's when our large hearted hero Akshay decided to step in and teach Chitrangada to shake her booty. Going by the picture, the shooting for the sequence took place at Trinity college classroom. Oops! Trust our Bollywood stars to pull of such sequences with elan!

Akshay apologises to Ash for Peters` remarks!

Indo-Canadian stand-up comedian Russell Peters, who has been on a “Bollywood slamming” spree, had poked fun at Aishwarya Rai’s acting skills. Peters did not limit his comments to her acting caliber but even made lewd remarks on her pregnancy.

The comedian was in India as Akshay Kumar’s guest to celebrate `Speedy Singhs` launch in the country. Akki drew flak from Ash’s fans for not intervening and showing Peters his limits. But helpless Akki could do little to stop him from saying what he wanted to as the motor mouth was his guest.

So Akki thought it was best to ring up Abhishek Bachchan (Ash’s husband) and apologise on behalf of Russell.

Talking to a daily, a source revealed, “As Russell was his guest, Akshay felt he should say something. Abhishek and he spoke, and Abhishek told him that he did not feel Akshay was at fault in anyway, and that Peters should be the one to apologise.”

Akshay and Aishwarya have shared a great chemistry on screen and have been mutual well-wishers. Its good that Akki took the onus of saying sorry to Ash even when he wasn’t at fault to ensure his friendship with the Bachchan parivaar doesn’t go for a toss for someone else’s mistake.

Even as Akshay Kumar is gearing up to bring his international collaboration Speedy Singhs / Breakaway on screen globally, here is one piece of news which was just come in after being kept under the wraps all this while. As has turned out to be the case, Akshay’s music video with Grammy Award winning American rapper and actor Ludacris isn’t the only contribution that he is making to the film. He would in fact also appear on screen at an important juncture in the film’s narrative.

Reveals our source, “Yes, apart from the song, Akshay would be seen in the film during a talkie part as well. The makers had refrained from revealing it to the audience earlier on as they didn’t want attention to go away from the film and its debutant lead actor Vinay Virmani. However, the truth is that Akshay has shot for the film as well.”

Now this is quite an interesting development because traditionally Akshay has always stayed away from doing any cameos even for friends and close acquaintances right through his two decade career. The only exceptions he has made so far are for Farah Khan (Om Shanti Om), Milap Zaveri (Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai) and Lara Dutta (Chalo Dilli).

“In fact earlier on there were talks that he won’t be making any appearance in Speedy Singhs. However, as the film gathered steam, he decided to do a scene as well in addition to the special music video for ‘Shera Di Kaum Punjabi’. How relevant does it eventually turn out to be for the film is something that would be known only when the film sees a global release for itself”, the source continues.

Expectedly the cast and crew of the film as well as Akshay is tight lipped around the extended cameo. However, when contacted, Vinay Virmani confirmed the news piece.

“Yes, Akshay is there in the song and also has a very special cameo in the film. Now don’t ask me about any additional details because if I utter a single word, I would be in a lot of trouble”, laughs Vinay.

He adds on a serious note, “Akshay has been like a big brother to me. He has done so much for me personally as well as professionally. Now to see him step into the film for a song and a cameo is something that I will never forget.”

The study authors caution that the findings shouldn`t be generalized to women, to men under 65 or to non-white men -- since less than 10 percent of those in their study were minorities.

Dr. Fouzia Siddiqui, a sleep specialist at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia, pointed out that the sleep tests were done in people`s homes, instead of in the lab where they may have been more precise. She called the study "a beginning" toward exploring a possible link between nighttime movements and cardiovascular disease.

She said that anyone who is concerned about their sleep shouldn`t keep it to themselves, just for general health`s sake.

"Disturbed sleep at night can predispose you to so many different disorders," Siddiqui, who didn`t participate in the new research, told Reuters Health. "If it`s interfering in your daytime function, there`s definitely a need to talk to your physician," she said.

It is common knowledge that Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra have been avoiding each other after their titillating on screen chemistry and the rumours of their alleged romance hit the headlines.
