Jacqueline Boycott horse-drawn carriages

As she affectionately pats a horse while standing on a beach wearing a bikini and next to the words "Put Horse Carriages Out to Pasture - Boycott Horse-Drawn Carriages," Sri Lankan actor and model Jacqueline Fernandez stars in a brand-new ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India.

The ad was shot by ace photographer Anushka Menon. The ad is being released in the wake of a recent incident in which a horse collapsed after being forced to pull a carriage of eight people near the Gateway of India - an all-too-common occurrence among horses who are used for "joy rides" in the city. It is also being released following the Mumbai High Court's landmark decision to crackdown on unlicensed stables housing carriage horses. PETA India is calling on BMC to ban horse drawn carriages outright.

"I have observed so many... heartbreaking incidents, and I can't be a silent spectator to this abuse anymore," Fernandez wrote recently in a letter to the Municipal Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. "Horses simply don't belong on the streets, and they certainly don't deserve to be forced to pull carriages beyond the point of exhaustion."

Jacqueline won the Miss Sri Lanka Universe title in 2006. She received an International Indian Film Academy Award and Stardust Award for Best Female Debut in 2010 for her role in the Indian film, ALADIN, and she plays the lead in the just-released Bollywood thriller, MURDER 2.

Fernandez joins a growing list of actors - including Hema Malini, John Abraham and Glee star Lea Michele - who have teamed up with PETA India to call for an end to horse-drawn carriages in Mumbai's streets.

Jacqueline Fernandez’s refusal to share a passionate kiss with Hrithik Roshan has cost her ‘Krrish’ sequel; buzz has it that Sajid Khan barred the actress from getting cosy with the hunk of an actor.

Apparently, Rakesh Roshan was adamant to sign the Sri Lankan beauty as he landed on the sets of ‘Housefull 2’ in Filmistan Studio to coax the actress. However, things didn’t work out as planned by Roshan Sr. as a source told a daily, “But Rakesh`s visit to Filmistan proved to be a futile exercise. The meeting at Filmistan Studios ended on a very ugly note. The meeting did not go as planned for sure. It is however unclear whether Jacqueline opted out or Rakesh Roshan sacked her.”


As for now, the ‘Krrish’ sequel is once again without the female villain.

Earlier, Chitrangda Singh was supposed to play the negative role but when she saw the script, she didn’t like the concept of a cameo as she was expecting a full-fledged role. Hence, Chitrangda quit the film and Jacqueline was roped in.

Interestingly, post the Box Office success of ‘Murder 2’, Jacqueline has started throwing major tantrums. “She had refused to wear a bikini for the film. Somehow that issue was sorted out. And now, she refused to do the kissing scene,” said the source.

When contacted, Rakesh Roshan refused to comment but Jacqueline`s business manager confirmed the news and said, “It is very unfortunate that Jacqueline is no longer a part of the ‘Krrish’ sequel because of date issues. We tried our level best to work out dates for the next five to six months but things were simply not working out.”

Jacqueline prefers Ash over Katrina!

The Sri Lankan beauty queen who made her Bollywood debut with Big B starrer Aladin is fed up of comparisons with Katrina and says that she wants to follow in the footsteps of Aishwarya Rai not Katrina Kaif.

Says Fernandez, "I have grown up watching Aishwarya make it big. The way she has handled her career is appreciable. She is the face of Indian cinema and a successful name in international arena," quips Jacqueline.

Jacquline will be next seen in Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai opposite Ritiesh once again. The film is slated to release in February 2010.

Perhaps she should choose her co-stars a bit more wisely, if success is what she wants! Who can forget the debacle of Aladin.

Jacqueline Fernandez seeing Aladin director?

Srilankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez must be wondering what has gone wrong with her. First, she was linked to Vivek Oberoi and then Abhay Deol. Now, the news is doing the rounds that she is seeing Sujoy Ghosh, the director of her debut film Aladin.It all started after Jacqueline was spotted having ice cream with Sujoy. It is also reported that the director has gifted her a Honda Civic worth nearly Rs.15 lakh.

Jacqueline is unperturbed by the rumours of her relationship with the director. She admitted that she did had ice cream with him along with Riteish but denied being gifted a Honda Civic. She feels there is nothing wrong hanging out with him.Sujoy admitted that he and Jacqueline are very good friends and hang out together with friends; sometimes alone.

He however said that nothing is brewing between them. Well then, they must be intentionally creating the gossip as a marketing strategy for Aladin, which is releasing this Friday, 30th October.
