Story :

Commando is out and out action packed film. The story is about Karanveer Dogra (Vidyut Jammwal), paragliding commando who ends up in China due to a helicopter crash. But the Chinese government think him as a spy and torture him. And due to politics, Indian government fail to save him. After enduring their torture for a year, he manages to escape and come to India. After coming here, a girl, Simrit Kaur who is chased by goons clashes. He saves the girl (Pooja Chopra) by beating all the goons up. The goons belong to AK74, local gang lord who wants to marry Pooja. AK74 and his men round up Karan. Here Karan and Simrit run into the wild and the whole cat and mouse game begins.

Performances :

Vidyut Jammwal has already impressed in fighting sequences in his last film Force where he played baddie. In this movie his action moves go to the next level. The kind of action stunts that he has done has never been attempted in Hindi movies before. He also shows his flair for dialogue delivery. The whole movie belongs to Vidyut jammwal’s performance. Pooja Chopra tries to ape Kareena in Jab we met, but falls short of playing talkative punjabi kudi. Jaideep Ahlawat, was last seen in Vishwaroop opposite Kamal Hassan. He continues that performance as a baddie with no eyeballs character to perfection. Nathali kaur sizzles in an item song in the movie. Rest of the actors don’t have that big role to talk about.

Technical aspect :

Narrating an action film is difficult as there needs to be balance with the fights and story that is going on. And director Dilip Ghosh seems to know this quite well and has maintained that in Commando. Screenplay is to the point with no useless scenes. Sejal Shah’s cinematography  is perfect. He manages to capture the scenic locations really well. Fighting sequences are told in an amazing way and all the credit goes to cinematographer. Ritesh Shah’s dialogues are packed with punch lines and makes verbal conquest also very interesting. Music wise there are only 2 songs in the movie. Both of them are good but seem very unnecessary and act like stops for a action entertainer.

Analysis :

As the name of the movie states, “one man army”, It is indeed only one Vidyut Jammwal who takes the film to new heights. The action sequences are unmatchable and he has body to die for. Since Vidyut is already trained in martial arts, it makes it easy for him to perform those insane stunts and treat for our eyes. The film bores you when it comes near interval part due to the 2 songs that are in it. Apart from that the movie is a treat to watch for action film enthusiasts. If you are not a fan of action, then this movie will disappoint you a lot.
