Neha Dupia's peppy song has a painful past

Neha Dhupia would be soon seen gyrating to a dance number 'Haiyya Haiyya' for her upcoming film PAPPU CAN'T DANCE SAALA. While the song has an out and out happy mood to it with a rhythmic base ensuring that it brings one on the dance floors, there is a story behind what really meets the eye (or rather reaches the ears). Apparently Neha's voice for the song, Manasi Scott, had to battle some trouble of her own before 'Haiyya Haiyya' could turn into a reality.

"Manasi is making her playback comeback in the film. However it didn't turn out to be smoothest of them all though," informs a source, "As luck would have it, she ended up with high fever and a sore throat on the day of the recording. Though she is usually quite super-quick and confident, this time around Manasi had the most nervous recording session ever. She had to regularly pop painkillers since her throat ached every time she sang the higher notes. Ultimately it boiled down to music director Malhar for taking her through."

Since 'Haiyya Haiyya' is a high energy dance number, it required Manasi to be hitting the high notes often. Malhar just asked her to concentrate on style and emotion while leaving the rest to him. Incidentally, 'Haiyya Haiyya' is the only song from the music CD which finds a place in the film as well.

"Film's director Saurabh Shukla too was very impressed with the singer/composer team here since in 'Haiyya Haiyya' he got the kind of sound he was looking for," the source continues.

With Vinay Pathak in the title role of 'Pappu' along with Rajat Kapoor, PAPPU CAN'T DANCE SAALA releases all over on 16th December.
