Katrina kaif recreates Mungda magic
Years before Madhuri Dixit scorched the screen in her red and green Maharasthrian saree and her canary yellow blouse (in Humko Aajkal Hai Intezaar from Sailaab), Bindu made Lavani famous with her Mungda number in 1977 film Inkaar.
Mads' Lavani steps were soon followed by a bevy of Bollywood beauties - Shilpa Shetty, Namrata Shirodkar and even Aishwarya Rai. Joining this list of leading ladies who made lavani a hit, Katrina Kaif will now, be seen grooving to a Hindi remix number of the two Marathi hits Mungda and Dhagala Lagli Kala for Karan Johar's Agneepath.
To get her first lavani dance right, Katrina has been shooting at Filmcity Reliance Studios for the last four days. Dressed in a Manish Malhotra designed quintessential Koli ensemble - a green kashta saree with a broad golden border, the actress has been practicing the steps choreographed by Ganesh Hegde along with co-stars Sanjay Dutt.
The song will see Sanjubaba as Kanchacheena dressed in a black Pathani style kurta being seduced by Katrinan - the Chikni Chameli.
Interestingly, Usha Mangeshkar sang both the songs that have inspired the Chikni Chameli dance number in Agneepath. While Mungda is an original Usha Mangeshkar number, Dhagala Lagli Kala was originally sung by Marathi veteran Dada Kondke.
