Department is directed and produced by Ram Gopal Varma and stars Rana Daggubati, Sanjay Dutt, Nasseruddin Shah, Kangana Ranaut and Raveena Tandon along with Amitabh Bachchan.

Reportedly Abhishek Bachchan was the first choice for Rana Daggubati's role but was dropped from the film due to date issues.
