Deepika decided to rekindle her ‘friendship with Yuvraj Singh

Often people come together during trouble times. Deepika Padukone who had been keeping a safe distance from her cricketer ex-boyfriend Yuvraj Singh for the past few years, has reportedly, all of a sudden decided to rekindle her ‘friendship’ with him. The actress recently touched base with Yuvraj, who has been diagnosed with a non-malignant tumour in his lung, to inquire about his health.

Perhaps reconnecting with his ex-flame has been one reason for the cricketer’s speedy recovery. Yuvi, who is recovering rather fast will reportedly be fit to be a part of the ODI tri-series in Australia to be held in February 2012.

“I’m getting ready to play again. I am targeting the ODI series in Australia,” Yuvraj told reporters during a promotional event in Mumbai on December 11. The left-hander had opted out of the ODI series against the West Indies. He was also not considered for the Test series in Australia for the same reason.

A friend of Yuvraj told Mumbai Mirror, “Deepika and Yuvraj hadn’t parted amicably. They even avoided each other on more than one occasion. However, recently Deepika picked up the phone and called him. Yuvraj was pleasantly surprised. The conversation did not last too long. After a few days she again told him ‘Get well soon’.”

The reason for the Deepika-Yuvraj split was believed to be Yuvraj’s over-possessive attitude. Also, reportedly, after the success of Om Shanti Om, Deepika got too busy and could not give Yuvraj too much time. “This peeved Yuvi no end and he felt that he wasn’t getting enough attention from her,” added the friend.

Deepika parted ways with Yuvraj in 2008. Soon, she started dating Ranbir Kapoor. Currently, the actress is reportedly been rather close to Siddhartha Mallya.

Defending her, a friend of the actress told Mirror, “Deepika and Siddhartha are in a very happy space. Deepika’s call to Yuvraj is a friendly gesture. Deepika doesn’t brood over the past and lives in the present. People move on and evolve.”
