Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra’s 'Barfee' is a warm romantic comedy
If you have heard it somewhere, forget it! Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra starrer Barfee is no serious affair but a warm romantic comedy meant for all age groups. Ranbir Kapoor clears the doubts surrounding Barfee and also why it is not releasing this year.
We loved Ranbir’s comical side in the movie Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. Though his recent films like Raajneeti and Rockstar are on serious, much deeper level, the same can’t be said for Barfee being directed by the maverick Anurag Basu.
Ranbir plays a deaf and mute character while Priyanka is differently-abled, thus many were of the view that the movie is going to be serious and dramatic. And since its director Anurag Basu has earned stripes directing the passionate love stories like Kites and Gangster, rumours of Barfee being a serious affair spread like wild fire.
Now Ranbir speaks on Barfee, “It’s sad to see such loose statements being made because ‘Barfee’ is actually a very sweet heart warming romcom”. The actor further adds that it is an out and out fun film.
Set in the 70s, the movie is a challenge for Anurag Basu. He has shot some of the sequences in Darjeeling and also in Kolkata. Though work is in progress, a few hiccups notwithstanding, only 50 percent of the film, which was supposed to release later this year, is complete. The makers have now fixed the month of May, next year, for the release.
As for now, Rockstar is keeping Ranbir Kapoor busy. The movie is releasing on November 11.
